Aromatic Horizons is an international adult education project implemented under the Erasmus+ KA210-ADU programme, focusing on aromatic plants, sustainable agriculture, and green entrepreneurship. Coordinated by Alaca Public Education Centre in Türkiye, the project brings together partner organizations from France, Slovakia, and the Netherlands to address shared challenges related to rural development, environmental sustainability, and adult skills development.
The project is designed to support adult learners, particularly those living in rural and semi-rural areas, by providing practical knowledge and competencies that can contribute to sustainable livelihoods. Aromatic Horizons responds to the increasing demand for environmentally responsible agricultural practices and alternative income sources by promoting the cultivation and entrepreneurial use of aromatic and medicinal plants.
Over a period of 24 months, the project develops innovative learning tools tailored to adult education. These include three structured training modules covering aromatic plant cultivation, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural entrepreneurship. The educational content is designed to be accessible, practical, and adaptable to different learning backgrounds, ensuring inclusiveness and lifelong learning opportunities.
A key output of the project is the Aromatic Plants Digital Catalogue, a multilingual and user-friendly online resource featuring at least 20 aromatic plant species. The catalogue provides essential information on cultivation techniques, sustainability aspects, and business potential, supporting both learners and educators beyond the project’s lifetime.
Pilot training activities will be implemented in all partner countries, reaching a total of 120 adult learners. These activities allow participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-life contexts while benefiting from peer learning and cross-cultural exchange. In addition, multiplier events will be organized to disseminate project results and encourage wider adoption of sustainable agricultural practices at local and regional levels.
Aromatic Horizons also emphasizes international cooperation and the exchange of good practices among partner organizations. Through transnational project meetings and collaborative development processes, the project strengthens institutional capacity in adult education and contributes to European priorities on green skills, digital transformation, and rural development.
By combining education, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, Aromatic Horizons aims to create long-term impact for adult learners and rural communities, supporting a greener, more inclusive, and resilient future.
