How Aromatic Horizons aims to transform rural economies, empower individuals, and foster environmental sustainability.
An Erasmus+ project is an investment in the future. At Aromatic Horizons, our success is not measured solely by the number of training modules we produce, but by the tangible, positive changes we create in the lives of our participants and the vitality of our regions. We have designed this project with a clear vision of the impact we intend to achieve at local, national, and international levels.
1. Empowering Adult Learners
The primary impact of our project is on the individual. By providing accessible, high-quality training on aromatic plant cultivation, we expect to:
- Enhance Employability: Equip adults—especially those with fewer opportunities—with specialized “green skills” that are in high demand.
- Foster Entrepreneurship: Inspire participants to move from subsistence farming to commercial agri-business, establishing their own small-scale enterprises (SMEs) in the aromatic sector.
- Improve Digital Literacy: Through the use of our Digital Catalog and e-learning platforms, rural learners will also improve their digital competencies, bridging the digital divide.
2. Revitalizing Rural Economies
Rural depopulation is a challenge across Europe. By introducing high-value crops like lavender, sage, and thyme, we aim to:
- Create New Income Streams: Demonstrate that small plots of land can be economically viable, reducing the need for migration to urban centers.
- Promote Agrotourism: Aromatic plant fields often attract tourism, creating secondary economic benefits for local villages (shops, accommodation, etc.).
3. Environmental Sustainability
Our training emphasizes organic and sustainable practices. The expected environmental impact includes:
- Biodiversity Conservation: Encouraging the planting of diverse species that support pollinators like bees.
- Climate Resilience: Teaching water-saving irrigation techniques and soil management that adapt to changing climate conditions.
4. Strengthening Institutions
Finally, the project strengthens the capacity of the partner organizations in Türkiye, France, Slovakia, and the Netherlands. Through international cooperation, our staff gains experience in cross-border management, intercultural communication, and innovative adult education methodologies.
